Michael W. Boles was born in Winston-Salem, North Carolina in 1954. His family moved near St. Augustine pier in 1967. Michael and his brother, Joe Boles, surfed often. In high school, Mike “Booger” Boles began a business shaping boards out of his garage and then turned what is now Corner Bar, on Anastasia Island, into his board shop.
